On
Saturday April 24th, the Ambleton
Delight production team were very honoured to receive the Best Feature Film
award (pictured below) at the British
Independent Film Festival awards ceremony held in
Bournemouth, Dorset.
In
his acceptance speech director Dan Parkes introduced the others in the
production team, Itsuka Yamasaki and Sinead Ferguson (pictured below)
and said: " I am from
New Zealand,
Itsuka is from Japan and Sinead is from Ireland and yet we made a film
about an English village! It is always an honour to receive
an
award for Best Actor, or Best Music, but Best Film means that this
award belongs to absolutely everyone who supported the project,
especially all the cast and crew... We recently had a comment from the
US who after seeing parts of the film said that it seems like everyone
in England can act!...Finally, since this film is based on a true
story, I would like to dedicate this award to the memory of the man the
main character is based on, Paul Stevens."

We are very
pleased to announce that Jos Lawton, who played the main character of
John Miller in Ambleton Delight has won the
Best Actor in a Leading Role
award
at The
International Filmmaker, in a ceremony held in Thanet,
Kent (October 29,
2009). He was in prestigious company, with a fellow nominee
being
Doug Jones (Pan in Pan's
Labyrinth, and the Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four)
in addition to four other talented actors including Israeli Danny Steg.
Unfortunately, Jos was filming in London at the time, but the
award was accepted on his behalf by director Dan Parkes, with Itsuka
Yamasaki and
Sinéad Feguson also in attendance, sitting at table of
distinguished guests who happened to win the most awards on the night!
Jos
Lawton's acceptance speech, as read by director Dan Parkes on the night:
It is an honour to receive this
award tonight. Working on Ambleton Delight was a
massively rewarding experience for me. It was also a personal milestone
- being the first time
I have played the lead role in a feature film. I would like to thank the
production team of
Dan, Itsuka and Sinead for their endless support. They were an absolute
pleasure to
work with. Their total professionalism and passion for the project were
an inspiration. I
would
also like to thank the entire cast and crew for their commitment to the
project, and making
it a truly collaborative team effort. Ambleton Delight is a testament to what can be
achieved
when money is scarce, but when talent, hard work and belief in the
project are in abundance.
Finally I would like to thank my partner Nicola for her constant
support, love and
encouragement in everything I do. Thank you again for this award.
