Welcome
to the Ambleton Village Council.
Originally established in 1406, the small town of Ambleton grew out of
a
collection of farms and workers houses from the
nearby clay pits and apple orchards. Nestled in a remote part of the
Sussex Downs, through the centuries it has
developed into a modern town, but with traditions from the past that
are
proudly remembered each year,
such as the annual apple festival.
The council consists of five key committees: Amenities,
Sports, Planning, Finance and General.
It's meetings take place in the Ambleton Village Hall, which has ample
facilities and a large car parking area.
Elected to office every three years, the following are the present
representatives of the community:
 |
Mr. Michael Keane
Mayor
of Ambleton

After
a successful term as village mayor, Michael, who owns substantial real
estate in the area, was reelected by an unprecedented majority.
He said he is looking forward to maintaining the core values
that
make him proud to be part of the village of Ambleton. In his spare time
he is an automotive enthusiast.

 |
Mr. Colin Wilkinson
Town
Clerk

After
establishing a successful accountancy firm in the village, Colin is
pleased to use his organisational skills in the council. Assisting his
father, Captain Don Wilkinson, who spent many years on the council in
various capacities, including one term as the mayor, Colin became the
town clerk upon the appointment of Michael Keane as Mayor. His
attention
to detail has included a complete overhaul of the town planning
committee's filing system. Although he rarely has
spare
time, when he does you will usually find him puzzling over a chess
board. |
